This is super easy to make. Makes a sweet, tart, crunchy, chewy addition to any salad.

Ingredients For candied pecan salad topper

  • 1 c
    mixed dried blueberries, dried cherries and dried cranberries
  • 1 c
    chopped pecan pieces
  • 3 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 2 tsp
    water
  • 1/4 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1/8 tsp
    salt

How To Make candied pecan salad topper

  • 1
    Mix together brown sugar, water, vanilla and salt in a microwave safe 1-cup measure. Set aside.

    Toast pecan pieces in a skillet over medium heat for 3 - 4 minutes.

    When pecans are almost done, microwave sugar mixture for 30-40 seconds, until hot and bubbly. It will be HOT!

    Pour over pecan pieces in skillet and carefully stir to coat.

    Spread on a parchment lined baking sheet and allow to cool. Break apart nuts. They may be a bit "Tacky" at first, but this will go away.

    Mix with dried blueberries, cherries and cranberries. Store in an air tight container.

    To serve: sprinkle a tablespoon or so over salad. Or just enjoy as a snack!
