I actually saw this on tv one night watching a Prepardedness program. I never realized you could do this and that cheese will keep indefinitely doing this. As you can see in my picture the cost. It is very reasonable. The secret is to dip cheese blocks with only light coatings. I love this idea, hope you do also! http://www.grapeandgranary.com

    block, any type hard cheese, cheddar, monterey jack etc.
  • 1 pkg
    cheese wax - red #1

    Melt wax in double boiler or crock pot. Wax should melt at 160F degrees.

    Brush or dip your cheese with wax and let cool. Three light coats are better that one heavy coat.

    Cover entire area with wax, do not have any openings or cheese will spoil. Cheese will last indefinitely on pantry shelf or in a dark, dry area.
