Ingredients For judy's homemade corn bread dressing

  • CORN BREAD
  • 3/4 c
    self-rising buttermilk corn meal
  • 1/4 c
    flour
  • 3/4 c
    buttermilk
  • 2
    eggs
  • DRESSING
  • 1
    recipe corn bread
  • 4
    slices white bread (torn in pieces)
  • 1 stick
    butter
  • 1 1/2 c
    celery (chopped)
  • 1 md
    onion (chopped)
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    poultry seasoning
  • 1 tsp
    ground sage
  • 4 to 5 c
    chicken stock
  • 2 can
    cream of chicken soup
  • 3
    eggs

How To Make judy's homemade corn bread dressing

    Preheat oven to 425 degreese
  • 2
    Mix corn meal, flour, buttermilk, & eggs.

    Grease & preheat 8 inch square baking dish. Pour in corn meal mixture. Bake until golden brown. Cool and crumble, (set a side)

    In a medium sauce pan, add butter, celery, and onion, saute until tender. (set a side)

    In a large bowl, combine the crumbled corn bread, white bread, celery, and onion mixture. Add salt and pepper, poultry seasoning, ground sage.

    Add chicken stock, cream of chicken soup, and eggs mixing well. (mixture should be soupy.)

    Preheat oven to 350 degreese. Spray 13 by 9 inch baking dish. Pour the mixture into the prepared dish. Bake for 1 hour or until lightly browned.
