Every Friday is steak night in our house. Sometimes I get tired of the same old steak. This is a wonderful mushroom sauce for steaks, that mixes it up a bit. You could serve it over any cut of steak you like or even over hamburgers.

Ingredients For new york strips with mushroom sauce

  • 6
    1.5 inch new york strip steaks
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1/4 c. clarified butter
  • 1/4 c
    butter
  • 1 pkg
    (3/4 oz.) mushroom gravy mix
  • 3/4 c
    water
  • 1/4 c
    red wine
  • 1 pinch
    ground black pepper
  • 1/2 lb
    fresh mushrooms, sliced then coarsely chopped
  • 1/2 c
    sliced green onions

How To Make new york strips with mushroom sauce

    Season New York Strip steaks with salt & pepper. Cover let sit at room temp for one hour.

    Grill steaks over high heat for 4-5 minutes per side for medium. In last minute of cooking, brush steaks with clarified butter. Place steaks on a warm plate and let rest.

    Saute' garlic and mushrooms in butter in a large, heavy skillet until mushrooms are softened.

    Add gravy mix, water, wine and pepper; bring to a boil. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until smooth and thickened. Add green onions. Serve sauce over New York Strip Steaks.
