oma's thunfischsalat - tuna salad

Found this in a website about Austrian food - this is pretty much how my German mom always made it. If you can find sour pickles in a European specialty store, all the better! NOTE: tuna comes in smaller cans than it used to, so adjust proportion of other ingredients accordingly. I use water pack tuna, but oil pack will give you a richer flavor.

  • 2 can
    tuna, drained (about 5 to 7 ounces each)
  • 1 sm
    onion, minced
  • 2 md
    dill pickles, minced
  • 2
    hard-boiled eggs, diced
  • 1-3 Tbsp
    lemon juice (or juice of 1 lemon, approx)
  • 5 Tbsp
    mayonnaise (light is ok)
