Since then, they've become one of Detroiter's most beloved dishes! Another favorite coney menu item is an evolution of the Coney Dog, the Loose Meat Coney! You wont find a Coney diner in Southeast Michigan that doesn't serve these delicious sandwiches! Seasoned loose meat hamburger served up in a steamed hot dog bun and topped with that signiture Detroit coney sauce, mustard and diced onions! Mmmmmm, so good!!!

    ground beef
  • 2 md
    onions, finely diced (separated)
  • 1 tsp
    onion powder
  • 1 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp
    paprika
  • 3 c
    beef broth
  • 1 pkg
    hot dog buns, steamed
  • prepared mustard (optional)

How To Make detroit style loose meat coney

    Brown the ground beef and onion in a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat.

    Drain off the grease and return to the stove.

    Add the beef broth, salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder and garlic powder. Bring to a boil, then set the heat to low and simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally for about 40 minutes or until nearly all of liquid is cooked off. Remove from the heat, cover, and let rest for 10 minutes before serving.

    To serve: Spoon onto steamed hot dog buns, Top with favorite chili sauce, mustard and diced onions.
