I always thought that to get a good pulled pork I had to smoke it for hours. Things like Liquid Smoke taste artificial to me. Then I discovered Hickory Smoke powder! The only ingredients are hickory smoke powder and dextrose. You don't want it with a lot of ingredients. It's a gourmet item and not widely available in groceries. I order mine online at Spice Sage. It's not expensive and a little goes a long way. They also have a hickory smoked salt that can make a steak or hamburger cooked on a gas grill taste like it has been cooked over a fire.
