Well, it's that time of year... my kitchen sees the most action with apples. We love apples. They are delicious, especially when incorporating them in a meal. And they are great to add flavor top pork chops. This recipe is a family fave. My husband's favorite way to eat pork chops or even top the chutney on a pork roast. Yes, fall is in the air!

Ingredients For pork chops with apple & pear chutney

  • APPLE/PEAR CHUTNEY
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • 4 c
    peeled & cubed tart apples (granny smith)
  • 2 c
    peeled & cubed pears
  • 1 c
    cranberries
  • 4 Tbsp
    apple cider vinegar
  • 4 Tbsp
    dark brown sugar
  • 2 tsp
    crystalized ginger
  • 1/2 tsp
    sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    allspice, ground
  • PORK
  • 1/2 tsp
    sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    coriander
  • 1/4 tsp
    fresh cracked pepper
  • 1/4 tsp
    fresh cracked white pepper
  • 1 tsp
    minced garlic
  • 6
    pork chops, center cut
  • 2 Tbsp
    extra virgin olive oil

How To Make pork chops with apple & pear chutney

Test Kitchen Tips
Make sure to let the pork chops come to room temperature before cooking (about 20 minutes prior). Also, be sure to rub the seasoning into the meat to enhance the flavor.
  • Butter melting in a pan.

    Preparing the chutney. Melt butter in a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat.
  • Sauteeing apples and pears.

    Add the apples and pears. Saute about 5 minutes.
  • Cranberries, vinegar, brown sugar, crystallized ginger, and spices added to the skillet.

    Add the cranberries, vinegar, brown sugar, crystallized ginger, salt, and allspice. Bring mixture to a boil.
  • Ingredients simmering together.

    Reduce heat & allow to simmer while preparing pork chops, stirring occasionally.
  • Salt, peppers, coriander, and minced garlic in a bowl.

    In a small bowl mix together salt, peppers, coriander, and minced garlic.
  • Olive oil in a skillet.

    Heat olive oil in large grilling skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Sprinkling pork chops with seasoning.

    Sprinkle both sides of pork chops with dry seasoning mixture.
  • Cooking pork chops in a skillet.

    Add pork to heated skillet and cook 4-6 minutes on each side until done. ** Can cook on the grill outdoors, or an electric grill as well :)
  • Apple and pear chutney spooned over pork chops.

    Serve pork chops with chutney atop. Serve with asparagus, a side of wild rice and fresh crisp salad.
