The sammie challenge ingredients were olives and bagel. This is my twist on a Mexican favorite called Picadillo. I used ground pork instead of beef. It was pretty good and easy to make. If you are feeling a lil' adventurous, you may want to try this one. Cooking with Passion, sw?

Ingredients For picadillo burger on a bagel

  • 1 1/2 lb
    ground pork
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp
    california golden raisins
  • 2 Tbsp
    olives with pimiento, chopprd
  • 1/2 sm
    orange bell pepper,chopped
  • 1/2 sm
    onion chopped
  • 2 md
    garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp
    cilantro, chopped
  • 1 pkg
    caldo de pollo (or any sazon)
  • 1 sm
    habanero pepper, fresh & chopped

    whole wheat bagel thins
  • 2 tsp
    each of cumin, cinnamon,
  • 1 Tbsp
    kosher salt

    radishes, sliced

    cabbage, shredded

    cilantro leaves (or substitute italian parsley)

How To Make picadillo burger on a bagel

    gather ingredients
  • 2
    in a large heated skillet add evoo. saute onion, peppers, garlic for 1 minute. add raisins, olives, and cilantro & caldo de pollo. saute for an additional 2 minutes. remove and allow to cool

    in large mixing bowl combine pork, cinnamon, cumin, tomato paste, salt and veggie mixture

    make 4 patties.

    fry burgers for 3-4 minutes on each side or until done

    assemble: spread mayo on bagels, on the bottom half of the bagel add cabbage, raddish slices, cilantro and burger. place your bagel top on and you are ready to go.
