Here's a different recipe for baby back ribs.

I grow blackberries in my back yard. I was looking for new recipes to use them and this was one of the successful recipes I put together. I hope you try it and like it as much as we do. Keep cooking.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

Yum! These are really good ribs. We baked them in the oven and they came out delicious. I bet they'd be even better on the grill. The blackberry honey sauce is a great complement to the baby back ribs. It's sweet, just a little tangy and forms a slight crust under the broiler. Even the pickiest of rib eaters will go crazy for these! Test Kitchen Avatar The Test Kitchen

  • 2
racks baby back ribs (about 4 lbs)
  • ·
    salt & pepper
  • ·
    liquid smoke
  • 1-1/2 c
    blackberries
  • 2 clove
    garlic, peeled
  • 1/4 c
    ketchup
  • 1-1/2 Tbsp
    honey
  • 1 tsp
    balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp
    hot sauce

How to Make Blackberry-Honey Ribs

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 400°.
  2. Rub ribs with a few drops of liquid smoke and season with salt and pepper. Put meaty side up on a foil-lined baking sheet; bake for about 45 minutes.
  3. Put blackberries, garlic, ketchup, honey, vinegar, hot sauce, and 1/2 tsp salt into a blender and puree for about 30 seconds. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve.
  4. Change oven to broil. Brush ribs with sauce and broil until thick glaze forms, about 5 minutes. Cut between bones into individual ribs.
  5. To cook on a charcoal grill: omit the liquid smoke; cook until ribs are just done; then brush ribs with sauce and cook until glaze forms.
