Husbands (and kids too!) love this cheesy hamburger casserole. It's a big hit at my house. Enjoy!
Blue Ribbon Recipe
This recipe should be called family delight because it's a hearty casserole the whole family will love. A basic casserole recipe every busy person should have their recipe box. There aren't a ton of fancy ingredients, but what's included works well together. Easy to throw together, the base of the casserole is your favorite pasta. The meat sauce has the perfect balance of onion, garlic, and Italian herbs. That's spread on top of a thick layer of sour cream and cream cheese. Everything is held in place with a layer of gooey mozzarella cheese. The combination of cheeses adds a savory flavor to the dish. Serve with garlic bread and green salad and you'll feel like you're at an Italian restaurant.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a 9x13 casserole dish.
Brown ground beef with onions. Drain. Wipe out the skillet. Put the beef and onions back in the skillet along with the spaghetti sauce, mushrooms, garlic, and Italian seasoning. Simmer for 5-6 minutes.
Cook pasta according to package directions (I like to cook mine al dente). Drain pasta and put it into the casserole dish.
Mix the cream cheese and sour cream in a small bowl.
Spread this over the pasta.
Then spread the meat sauce on top of the cream cheese mixture.
Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
Bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
