pinto beans and ham
We love this comfort meal made with ham and pinto beans, with a nice side of cornbread. I usually make this when I have a leftover ham with the ham bone. I make my own broth, but you can use canned broth, and it is still delicious!

Ingredients
- 1 pound ham
- 1 ham bone
- 1 bag pinto beans (16 oz)
- 4 cups beef broth
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 4 stalks celery, chopped
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 cups rice, cooked
How To Make pinto beans and ham

Step 1Pour your broth into a large pot and start it simmering.

Step 2Place the ham bone and ham pieces in your broth and add your spices (using any to your taste).

Step 3Add your chopped onion and celery.

Step 4Sort through your pinto beans to be sure there aren't any rocks or dirt in the bag. Then add to the pot.

Step 5Simmer on medium for approximately 4 hours or until your pinto beans are soft.

Step 6Serve over cooked rice with some cornbread.
