    lean lamb
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried basil
  • 1 c
    currants
  • 2/3 c
    coarsely cut figs
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 c
    chicken broth
  • 1 c
    dry lentils
  • 4 c
    beef broth
  • 1 c
    diced turnip with tops

How To Make mawneye - slow cooked lamb recipe

    Cut lamb into 1/2 inch pieces

    Salt and pepper the lamb well

    Brown the lamb in melted butter

    Add the cup of chicken broth and simmer for 45 minutes or until lamb is tender.

    Drain the liquid.

    Bring the lentils to a boil in the broth

    Then simmer for 15 minutes.

    Combine cinnamon, salt, basil and stir into diced turnip.

    Add turnip, currants and figs to the lentils and simmer for 10 minutes.
