Ingredients For fruit filled squash, crock pot style

  • 2 md
    acorn squash
  • 1 c
    chopped apples
  • 1 md
    orange, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    grated orange peel
  • 4 tsp
    butter (divided)
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 c
    water

How To Make fruit filled squash, crock pot style

    Cut squash in half crosswise; remove seeds. Sprinkle cavities with salt. Combine apple, orange, brown sugar, orange peel, and salt. Spoon into squash cavities; dot each with 1 tsp butter.

    Wrap each half securely in foil. Stack cut side down in crock pot cooker. Add water to bottom of crock pot. Cover and cook on low heat setting for 6 hours.

    Unwrap squash and lift to serving plate. Drain any syrup remaining in the foil, into a small pitcher; serve with squash.
