bubbles and squeak

Blue Ribbon Recipe by

Several years ago, I became interested in English dishes. My good friend from the west end of England gave me this recipe, and I make it occasionally. As mentioned below in the comments, the dish's name comes from the noise it makes when cooking. Fun! It's great as it is. However, if you'd like a little more "punch," add a little seasoned salt or salt-free seasoning.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

Bubbles and Squeak is a yummy English dish that will be a hit around your table. It gets its name from the noises the ingredients make while being fried. Bacon and onions are cooked down in rendered bacon drippings. The smell is amazing. They're mixed with potatoes, cabbage, and ham. When everything is fried, this meal is similar to a hash. If there's leftover holiday ham, this is a great recipe to make the next day. Since the potatoes are pre-cooked, this meal comes together quickly.
