We made this on camp trips. The mop pail came every year at Christmas. It was put away until that year's campout. At the end of camping it became a real mop pail. There were 10 in our family so you may want to cut the recipe some.

Ingredients For mop pail soup

    hamburger
  • 2 md
    onions
  • 1 can
    potatoes
  • 1 can
    carrots
  • 1 can
    peas
  • 1 can
    green beans
  • 1 can
    tomatoes, large can
  • 1
    bulb fresh garlic, peeled, minced

How To Make mop pail soup

    Use a large pot. If it's used over a campfire, rub the outside with dish soap to keep the soot off the pot. It can be done on a stove. While a mop pail can be used, there are no regulations on material for mop pails.

    Any of the canned ingredients can be swapped out for fresh or frozen. Just make sure to adjust the prep time accordingly.

    Brown hamburger, leaving the hamburger in medium chunks. Chop onions into medium pieces. Add that and garlic to hamburger about half way through the browning process. Once hamburger is browned, add cans--liquid and all--to the hamburger. Cover with lid and bring to a boil. Simmer until you are ready to serve. Serve.
