The Native Americans used to eat the warm heart of their prey in order to inherit their spirit. It was also a way to honor the animal, and use every part of it.
This is an excellent dish to serve for a buffet or Sunday night supper.

Ingredients

venison heart, cleaned, sliced
1/4 c
italian dressing mix
1 tsp
olive oil
1/2 tsp
sweet basil
1/4 tsp
oregano, dried
1 tsp
chopped parsley

How to Make Marinaded Venison Heart

Step-by-Step

  • 1Prepare the heart by cutting diagonally, (that seems to improve the tenderness of the meat).
    Wash well, cutting out the veins and arteries.
  • 2Combine Italian Dressing Mix, and all other ingredients.
    Pour over slices of venison heart and let marinade for about 30 minutes, turning frequently.
  • 3Saute' slices in hot oil, cooking about five to eight minutes( depending how thin the slices are).
