homestyle ham and bean soup

I developed this simple yet delicious recipe as an alternative to split pea and ham - which was my 'go to' after every major ham holiday. This method of cooking the beans keeps them tender while avoiding the overnight soaking that is often required. The family loved it, so now it is part of the regular soup rotation. Hope you like it!
