How to Make Carrie's Pintos
- 1Fry the bacon in a large Dutch oven or stock pot until crisp.
Leave in pot and fill 1/2 full with warm water.
- 2Add beans and the rest of the ingredients and let soak for 1 hour.
- 3Boil on high for 30 to 45 minutes, adding warm water as needed to keep the pot 1/2 full.
- 4Turn to medium heat and continue cooking until beans are tender, about 1 hour.
