  • 6 good size slices of mozzarella cheese

  • 1 small loaf of french bread { toasted }

How To Make meatball hoagies are in the house!

  • 1
Put the marinara sauce, sugar and V8 into a pot bring to a boil, then turn it down and reduce it to ½. This could take a couple of hours but reducing any sauce/marinade/broth etc. intensifies the flavors so much.
  • 2
Put the ½ & ½ in a bowl, and then add the dry seasonings: salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, minced onion, parsley and the garlic powder granules. Stir this and refrigerate for 30 minutes. After that time remove the crust from 1 slice of bread, cut into small cubes and mix it into the ½ & ½ mixture, refrigerate till you are ready to make the meatballs.
  • 3
WHEN YOU ARE READY TO MAKE THE MEATBALLS: Pre heat the oven to 375.
  • 4
Pull out the ½ & ½ mixture and put it in a large bowl, add the ground round, egg, 5 T bread crumbs, wine and grated cheese.
  • 5
Melt the butter with the garlic and let it cool slightly. Cut the French bread in half, and then scoop out a little bit of the bread from the bottoms and tops. Then with a brush, take some of the melted butter and brush the inside of the tops and bottoms, set aside.
  • 6
Put the remaining 1 cup bread crumbs in a separate bowl.
  • 7
Make the meatballs; roll them in the remaining butter and then the bread crumbs. Put them in on baking sheet, once you have all the meatballs made bake loosely covered for 45/50 minutes { after the first 20 minutes, keep turning the meatballs over to get them brown} then uncover and bake for additional 15 minutes.
  • 8
Once the meatballs are done, top the meatballs with the mozzarella cheese, turn the oven down to 300 and bake till the cheese has melted { about 10/15 minutes}.
  • 9
As soon as you top the meatballs with the cheese, get the griddle hot and grille the sides that were basted with the butter.
  • 10
    Get the marinara sauce hot.
  • 11
Place ½ of the roll on your plate, put a couple of spoonfuls of the sauce on the bottom, add the lettuce, top with the meatballs and spoon the marinara sauce over the top, and put the other ½ of the bread on top.
