Here's a great delicious way to cook up those bratwursts when you want a really tasty bratwurst.

This is such an easy way to cook your brats and so much better than buying them pre-cooked at the supermarket. Boiling the brats in beer and veggies adds tons of flavor. After being grilled, the skin is nice and crisp and the inside was warm and juicy. Top with your favorite toppings and you have the perfect brat.

Ingredients For brats & beer on the grill

  • 6 lg
    fresh bratwursts
  • 6 can
    beer (not dark) or ginger-ale, 12 oz. each
  • 1 md
    onion, chopped
  • 6 sm
    peppercorns
  • 4 clove
    whole cloves
  • 6 lg
    hot dog hard rolls

How To Make brats & beer on the grill

  • Placing bratwurst in a pot with onion, beer, and spices.

    Place bratwursts, beer, onion, peppercorns, and cloves in a 3-quart saucepan.
  • Bratwurst simmering on the stove.

    Simmer for 20 minutes. Drain.
  • Bratwurst on the grill.

    Grill bratwursts 2 to 5 inches from charcoal about 10 minutes, until browned. Sprinkle with water to form a crisp skin.

    Serve on hard rolls with your choice of condiments, we like it all. If you don't want to use beer, use ginger ale instead.
