  • 1 pkg
    16.oz hot roll mix
  • 1 1/4 c
    hot water
  • 2 Tbsp
    canola oil
  • 1 1/4 lb
    spicy italian sausage
  • 3/4 c
    pizza sauce
  • 4 c
    shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 Tbsp
    melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp
    minced garlic
  • 1/4 c
    fresh grated parmesan cheese
  • thin sliced mozzarella strips for lacing design

We added some of the cheese to the drained, cooled meat prior to filling the dough. It added extra gooeyness that was just delightful.

    preheat oven to 375* brown sausage, until browned, drain and set aside.

    mix hot roll mix according to pkg, for pizza dough, roll into 8 pieces. roll each piece into an oval shape. place about 1/3 cup sausage mixture on each, place about a tablspoon of pizza sauce on each. bring up dough edges and pich together to seal, place on pan seam side up, flatten slightly, to form football shape.

    let rise about 25 min. bake in oven for 20 min. while still hot brush with melted butter and minced garlic, sprinkle with grated parmesan, and place mozzarella strips, on top to form lace design.. place back in oven just till slightly melted, let set about 5 min. and serve
