Ingredients

  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled, deveined & tails off
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce, low-sodium
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine
  • 2 teaspoons corn starch
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon peanut oil
  • 1/2 cup scallions, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups rice noodles or white or brown rice

How To Make szechwan shrimp

  • Step 1
    Thaw shrimp, if frozen. Cut in 1/2 lengthwise. Rinse shrimp & pat dry with paper towels. Set aside.
  • Step 2
    SAUCE: In a small bowl, add water, ketchup, soy sauce, rice wine, cornstarch, honey, ginger & red pepper flakes; mix to combine. Set aside.
  • Step 3
    Pour oil into a large skillet or wok. Heat over medium high heat. Add scallions & garlic; stir fry 30 seconds.
  • Step 4
    Add shrimp. Stir fry 2 - 3 minutes or until shrimp are opaque; push to side of skillet or wok. Stir sauce; add to center of skillet or wok. Cook & stir until thickened & bubbly. Cook & stir 2 minutes more. Serve with rice noodles or rice.
