the forbidden black rice has a delightful nutty flavor. the sweet, sour, salty and spicy asian flavors makes this one of my favorite salads. the tilapia is lightly seasoned and grilled to perfection. this dish is one for special guests, friends and family. they will be smiling from ear to ear after having this one. happy cooking! sw:)

Ingredients For forbidden & fabulous!

  • 7 1/2 oz
    black forbidden rice
  • 1 1/3 c
    water
  • pinch of salt
  • 4 lg
    tilapia fillets (if vegetarian, firm tofu)
  • pam oil spray for grill grates
  • ASIAN SPICY DRESSING
  • 1/4 c
    soy sauce
  • 1/4 c
    fish sauce (if vegetarian, omit)
  • 1 Tbsp
    sesame oil
  • 1 lg
    lime juice & zest
  • 1-2 Tbsp
    sriracha hot sauce
  • 1/4 c
    water
  • 2-3 Tbsp
    splenda
  • VEGGIES AND FRUIT FOR RICE SALAD
  • 1 lg
    mango, chopped
  • 1/2 md
    orange bell pepper, chopped
  • 3 md
    green onions, chopped
  • 1 lg
    tomato, deseeded & chopped
  • 1 Tbsp
    cilantro, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp
    fresh mint, chopped
  • 2 lg
    garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1/2 sm
    habanero pepper, fresh, chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 c
    cashews, roughly chopped
  • black sesame seeds to garnish

How To Make forbidden & fabulous!

    gather all ingredients
  • 2
    boil rice with salt according to package (30 minutes). let rice cool. chop all veggies and fruit add to large mixing bowl with cool rice
  • 3
    in a mixing bowl, combine all sauce ingredients together. mix thoroughly. add sauce to veggie and fruit bowl, toss gingerly. you may not need all the dressing. adjust as needed.

    brush fish fillets with a little of the dressing and a little extra sesame oil. heat your grill to medium. spray grill gate with pam. grill fish for 2-3 minutes on each side or until done. fish should be nice and flaky. on a warm plate add rice and top with grilled tilapia. DInner is Served!
