This chicken is very flavorful. You will find that children especially love this dish as it is not too spicy. A healthy option as an after-school snack. You may also serve with other favorite dishes for a full family meal. This dish is baked instead of fried yet is still flavorful. P.S. Don't tell the kids!

Ingredients

  • 6
    boneless chicken breasts cut into strips or chunks
  • 3 Tbsp
    oil, (your choice of type)
  • 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    lemon pepper seasoning
  • 1/4 Tbsp
    garlic salt
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    white rice vinegar
  • 1/4 c
    pineapple juice
  • 1/4 c
    catsup
  • 1 tsp
    soy sauce

How to Make Sweet and Sour Chicken

Step-by-Step

  1. Combine flour, lemon pepper, and garlic salt. Coat each piece of chicken with flour mixture.
  2. Cook chicken until brown on both sides in skillet in oil.
  3. Remove chicken from skillet and arrange in a 3 quart rectangular baking dish.
  4. Combine sugar, vinegar, pineapple juice, catsup, and soy sauce. Whisk well.
  5. Pour over chicken. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
