Love this grilling sauce as it is not a red or tomato-based sauce. It has been a family favorite for generations. Each generation has experimented with the basic sauce to create interesting variations... my personal favorite is to add 1/2 cup of lime juice and 1/2 cup tequila in place of vinegar.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

The vinegar and seasonings combine to make one flavor-packed chicken marinade. We made this just as Elizabeth posted and it's fabulous. Great for a cookout or easy dinner. Test Kitchen Avatar The Test Kitchen

How to Make Grilled Florida Style Chicken

Test Kitchen Tips
We didn't need to grill this chicken for an hour. All grills vary as do the size of chicken breasts so watch yours closely so as not to overcook.

Step-by-Step

  1. Mix all ingredients.
  2. Place in a leak-proof Ziploc gallon bag or covered glass dish. Marinate chicken overnight in the refrigerator.
  3. Grill over hot coals or gas grill turning and brushing chicken with marinade until done. Depending on the size of the chicken it could take about an hour.
