I adopted this recipe because my niece makes this with hamburger for large family gatherings, she makes it for every graduation picnic she has! It is very good, the rice helps to stretch the meat and takes on the color and flavors infused in her Sloppy Joes.

My niece got her recipe from her mother-in-law, I can't wait to tell her about this version!

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 2 lb
    ground chicken (pork or beef)
  • 1
    chopped green bell pepper
  • 1
    chopped onion
  • 30 oz
    sloppy joe sauce
  • 2 c
    cooked rice
  • 12
    hamburger buns

How to Make Chicken- Rice Sloppy Joes

Step-by-Step

  1. Heat oil in large skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
  2. Add chicken; cook and stir 4 to 6 minutes or until no longer pink.
  3. Stir in pepper and onion; cook 1 to 3 minutes.
  4. Add sloppy joe sauce.
  5. Cook over medium heat about 8 to 10 minutes; stirring occasionally.
  6. Stir in rice; cook until thoroughly heated.
  7. Spoon over hamburger buns.
