When I first got this recipe from my sister I didn't know what to think - I'd never had chips cooked into a dish and was very skeptical. But I tried it, and it's been a family favorite ever since. It's just one of those dishes that defines comfort food... it's hot, cheesy, fill you up food.

  • 2-3
    boneless, skinless chicken breast
  • 1 can(s)
    cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can(s)
    cream of chicken soup
  • 8 oz
    sour cream
  • 2 Tbsp
    oil, whatever you prefer to cook with
  • 1 small
    onion, diced
  • 3/4 bag(s)
    tortilla chips, crushed (not too finely)
  • 3 c
    cheddar cheese, shredded, divided

How to Make Chicken Casserole


  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Cut chicken into bite size pieces. Season Chicken. (use your favorite seasonings - I use salt, pepper, garlic powder & seasoning salt)
  3. Heat oil in a pan over medium high heat. Add chicken & onions. Saute until chicken is cooked though. 8-10 minutes
  4. In casserole dish mix soups, sour cream, half the cheese and crushed chips.
  5. Add cooked chicken to casserole dish, mix together
  6. spread remaining cheese on top
  7. Bake 20-30 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly, and heated all the way though.
