The kids said, "Grandma! I'm Hungry!" I looked to see what I had on hand, this is what I came up with. They are always hungry, and I am always seeing what I have, which equals lots of new recipes! I make them with or without broiling them, and with or without cayenne pepper. Some of my grandchildren love the heat, others don't like a lot of heat, it is all to your family's likes. This is easy, inexpensive, and tastes great! The kids like "baby" sandwiches because they are so "cute". These little Meatball Sliders were a big hit with all of us! Play With Your Food! xo

Ingredients For meatball sliders

  • BREAD
  • 1 pkg
    silver dollar rolls
  • MEATBALLS
  • 1 lb
    italian sausage, hot
  • SAUCE
  • 1 jar
    spaghetti sauce
  • 1 tsp
    garlic powder
  • CHEESE
  • 1 bag
    mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • OPTIONAL
  • cayenne pepper
  • extra garlic powder

How To Make meatball sliders

  • 1
    Form the Italian sausage into meatballs. Fry in a skillet for 5 minutes, turning the meatballs. Add 1/2 cup water to skillet and cook another 5 minutes until the water is cooked down. *** Optional: you can add cayenne pepper and extra garlic powder if you like.

    Put all of the sauce ingredients into a sauce pan. Simmer 5 - 10 minutes while you are cooking the meatballs in the skillet. *** Optional: You can add cayenne pepper and extra garlic if you like.

    Cut the Silver Dollar Rolls side ways to form a bun.

    Spoon some sauce onto both sides of each bun.

    Put a meatball on each bun. Place on baking sheet.

    Sprinkle each sandwich with shredded mozzarella cheese.

    Turn oven broiler on. Put baking sheet of "open face" sandwiches in the oven.

    Broil until cheese is melted and the color you like it.. I like a light golden brown (this only takes a couple of minutes).

    Remove from oven. Divide on to plates (or put them all on a platter).

    I like lots of heat, so I garnish with cayenne pepper... OPTIONAL!
