This Philly cheesesteak sloppy joe may be a bite-size sandwich but it's big of flavor. Onions and green bell peppers really give the overall meat tons of flavor. The small amount of steak sauce is just enough to add a little tang. Topping with a provolone cheese sauce is delicious. The sauce is creamier than melting a slice of provolone. Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 large
    onion (chopped)
  • 1 medium
    green pepper (chopped)
  • 2 Tbsp
    steak sauce
  • 1 c
    beef broth
  • ·
    salt and pepper
  • 1 pkg
    dinner rolls (12-18 needed)
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 Tbsp
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 c
    milk
  • 1 c
    provolone cheese (shredded)

How to Make Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes

Step-by-Step

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the oil.
  2. Then brown the ground beef, about 5-6 minutes.
  3. Add the onion and green pepper and cook another 3-4 minutes, until the vegetables start to get tender.
  4. Stir in the steak sauce and beef broth, season with salt and pepper.
  5. Bring up to a bubble and cook about 2 minutes.
  6. Split open rolls and remove most of the soft insides, leaving a bed to hold the meat mixture.
  7. Toast the rolls and set aside.
  8. While the meat is cooking, melt the butter in a medium-size pot over medium-high heat. Stir in the flour and cook about 1 minute.
  9. Whisk in milk.
  10. Bring up to a bubble and let thicken, about 2 minutes.
  11. Turn off heat and stir in the cheese.
  12. To serve, place a scoopful of the meat mixture onto the bottom of the rolls.
  13. Then top with the cheese sauce.
  14. Replace the top of the roll.
