nana's meatloaf

This recipe was given to me by my husband's grandmother. It's a wonderful recipe, with a sweet sauce on top. (I actually double the sauce on top for our family!) It's a great comfort food!

Ingredients For nana's meatloaf

  • 1 1/2 lb
    ground beef
  • 1/4 c
    onion, chopped
  • 1/4 c
    oatmeal, uncooked (i use gluten-free oats)
  • 2 Tbsp
    cornmeal
  • 1 c
    bread crumbs
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1
    egg, beaten
  • 1/2 c
    tomato juice
  • 1/2 c
    water
  • 1 Tbsp
    barbecue sauce
  • 1/8 tsp
    liquid smoke flavoring
  • 1 Tbsp
    cider vinegar
  • FOR SAUCE:
  • 1/4 c
    ketchup
  • 3 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 2 tsp
    mustard
  • 2 dash
    liquid smoke flavoring

How To Make nana's meatloaf

    Mix first 13 ingredients thoroughly. Pour into 9x5 baking dish and flatten.

    In a small bowl, mix the sauce ingredients together. Spread over top of meatloaf mixture.

    Bake 350* for approximately 1 hour, or until cooked through.
