This is a very tasty and inexpensive meal. Mom always served it with mashed potatoes & corn. As a kid, I would make a mess on my plate of the hamburger stuff, mashed potatoes & corn, all mixed together. (I still do! lol) This is HFCS-Free.

Ingredients For mom-mom's hamburger stew

  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1
    onion, chopped
  • 1
    small green pepper, chopped
  • garlic powder
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • beef bullion powder
  • corn starch
  • parsley flakes

How To Make mom-mom's hamburger stew

    In a large skillet, saute onions & peppers until onions are translucent. Brown the ground beef. Season with salt, pepper & garlic powder.

    Add some water & bullion to make gravy in the pan. Simmer 20 minutes on low, or until bubbly. Ladle out some of the broth into a cup & dissolve 2 Tablespoons of cornstarch into it. Add to beef mixture. Stir & simmer until thickened.

    To serve: Place a heaping ladle of the Hamburger Stew on top of mashed potatoes. Add corn on the side.
