Make small meatballs ( 1 1/2"), and cook until browned & done. I prefer to bake them using a broiler pan so the fat drips down into the broiler pan away from the meatballs. Bake for 30 min at 350f for baking or pan cook. Drain well.

In a large saucepan, or dutch oven pour in sugar, add ketchup and beer. I like to use some of the beer to swish the excess ketchup out of the bottle. Mix ingredients until the sugar is mostly dissolved. Put over medium heat, add meatballs, and let simmer for 30 minutes.

If you want to use a crock-pot, cook your meatballs, or use plain frozen meatballs. Preheat your crock-pot on high. Follow step 2 in the crock, add meatballs and turn down to low if you want them to simmer for more than an hour.
