For years I just made my mother's Sloppy Joe recipe. Then one day I decided to try it with some BBQ sauce. My family loved it so well that's the only way they want it fixed. It is super quick and easy to prepare. It goes great with slaw and chips.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

We really enjoyed these quick and easy bite-sized sloppy joes. It's a tasty variation on a slider recipe. Sweet and tangy, store-bought barbecue sauce is jazzed up with ketchup, mustard, and onion flakes. The hardest part of this recipe is browning the ground beef. They'll be great for a party. Set it out and let everyone make their own. We served ours with mini pickles and chips.

How To Make bbq sloppy joe sliders

Test Kitchen Tips
Our sauce was a little thick, so we added the recommended 2-3 Tbsp of water.
  • Browning the ground beef.
    1
Brown ground round; drain off any excess fat. (Ground round is so lean there usually isn't any excess fat).
  • Ketchup, BBQ sauce, mustard, and onions added to beef.
    2
Stir in ketchup, BBQ sauce, mustard, and onions.
  • Simmering the mixture.
    3
Simmer covered on low heat for 10 minutes. Stir frequently to prevent sticking. If your mixture seems too thick, add a little extra BBQ sauce or a tablespoon or two of water.
  • Sloppy joe mixture on a roll.
    4
Using heaping tablespoons put the meat on the buns. Optional: If you prefer, you can mayonnaise the buns first; or simply put the mayonnaise out for everyone to add according to their preference.
