This is one of the three dishes I make when I'm craving meat! So easy, so good.

Blue Ribbon Recipe

Skip heading to a restaurant on Valentine's Day and prepare a special meal at home. This filet mignon is tender and juicy. Once broiled, the bacon crisps slightly and adds a touch of smokiness. What we loved is the wine sauce with fresh mushrooms. It's rich and savory and enhances the filet mignon.

How To Make bacon-wrapped filets with sauteed mushrooms

Test Kitchen Tips
We cooked our filet for 4 minutes, turned, and cooked for another 4 minutes.
  • Filet mignon trimmed and gathered ingredients on a board.
    1
Trim meat, making two round circles. Gather ingredients.
  • Cooking sliced mushrooms in a skillet.
    2
Wash and slice mushrooms. Melt butter in a small frying pan over medium heat. Saute mushrooms until soft. Reduce heat to low, continue cooking until butter is almost gone.
  • Wine added to the mushrooms.
    3
Then add wine. Let simmer until you're ready to use them.
  • Filet mignon wrapped in bacon and seasoned.
    4
Wrap each circle with 2 overlapping bacon slices and fasten with toothpicks, if necessary. Season each with salt and pepper, both sides.
  • Filet mignon broiled in the oven.
    5
Lower broiler rack to 4" below a broiler (unless you like your steaks rare*), cook steaks to your preference, turning once, making sure the bacon is browned. (*if you like your steaks pretty rare, no need to lower the broiler rack, basically you just wanna cook the bacon and sear the tops.)
  • Bacon-Wrapped Filet With Sauteed Mushrooms on a plate.
    6
When steaks are done, plate and cover with the sauteed mushrooms. ENJOY!!
