The epitome of comfort food in my book! Wonderful served with whipped potatoes or even buttered noodles. A veggie and you have a meal fit for a king. I've never made them the same way twice. Always adding something. The family told me to remember exactly what I used this time as they want them again soon. Enjoy!

  • 2
Preheat oven to 375 degree F. Grease a 9 x 13 baking dish. In a large skillet, over med high heat add oil and 3 tablespoons butter. Once butter has melted into the oil, carefully add your burgers. Cook until browned well on each side.
  • 3
    Place evenly into prepared dish.
  • 4
In the same skillet with juices, saute the mushrooms until starting to brown, add the garlic nowcand cook another minute or two.
  • 5
Spoon mushrooms over the burgers evenly.
  • 6
Melt 1 tablespoon butter in same skillet and cook onions until golden. Spoon over the mushrooms. Preheat oven to 375 degree F.
  • 7
In a med bowl, whisk together broth, kitchen bouquet, worcestershire sauce and buillion. To the same skillet, melt 2 tablespoons butter and to this whisk in the flour, stirring constantly for at least 1 minute. To this slowly whisk in the broth mixture, making sure to smooth out any lumps. Stir in sherry if using. Cook until becomes a gravy thickness. Doesn't take but a minute.

Pour this evenly over the steaks. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 40 - 45 minutes. Should be good and bubbly.
  • 9
Remove foil and serve while good and hot, along side of whipped potatoes or noodles. The rich, tasty gravy would be great with either. Enjoy!
