Asian Inspired Salisbury Steak

Susan Bickta

These delicious "Salisbury Steaks" are quick and easy to make and have such a wonderful Asian flavor. I usually serve these "steaks" with steamed white rice and green beans for a perfect meal.
Instead of the bouillon and dehydrated onion flakes in the patty recipe, I have already used an envelope of dried Onion Mushroom soup mix instead.

How to Make Asian Inspired Salisbury Steak

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground chuck, Panko, 1/2 of the bouillon, onion flakes, egg, water and soy sauce.
  2. Mix well with hands until all ingredients are combined.
  3. Form into 6 patties.
  4. Dredge each patty with flour.
  5. Place a large non-stick skillet over medium high heat. Add the 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. Place patties in skillet and cook until browned, about 5-6 minutes. Turn patties and cook another 5-6 minutes.
  6. Meanwhile, make the sauce: In another non-stick skillet, add the oil, sesame oil, mushroom, onion, bell pepper and remaining bouillon powder.
  7. Cook over medium high heat, stirring often, for 6-8 minutes, or until onion is translucent.
  8. Add the gravy and soy sauce. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
  9. Pour sauce mixture over patties, making sure all patties have been coated with sauce.
  10. Bring to a simmer. Reduce heat, cover and cook an additional 5-6 minutes or until patties are cooked through.
  11. Garnish each serving with chopped green onion.
