Ingredients For all-bran chili

  • 1 lb
    ground chuck
  • 1 lg
    onion, chopped
  • 1 lg
    green pepper, chopped
  • 1 can
    (28 oz.) tomatoes or tomato chunks
  • 1 can
    (14 oz.) tomato sauce
  • 4 tsp
    chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/8 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1 can
    (19 oz.) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 c
    kellogg's all-bran original cereal

How To Make all-bran chili

    In a large saucepan, cook hamburger with onion and green pepper until meat is brown, stirring frequently. Drain fat.

    Add the tomatoes; break into chunks if whole. Stir in the tomato sauce, chili powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Mix well. Add beans and bring to a boil.

    Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, about 40 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Mix in the cereal and cook about 10 minutes longer, stirring frequently.

    Serve with cornbread and a green salad, if desired.
