Affogato (Italian Espresso - no alcohol version)
1/2 cboiling water
1 Tbspespresso powder
1 ptchocolate gelato or chocolate ice cream (coffee flavored ice cream is good, too)
1/3 cwhipped cream
1 Tbspshaved dark chocolate
How to Make Affogato (Italian Espresso - no alcohol version)
- Whisk the boiling water and espresso powder in a 1 cup glass measuring cup until the powder is dissolved, or use an espresso machine to make 4 shots of espresso.
- Scoop 1/2 cup of the gelato (or ice cream) into each of 4 Irish coffee mugs.
- Pour 2 tablespoons (1 shot) of freshly brewed espresso over each gelato serving. Top each with a dollop of whipped cream, and sprinkle chocolate shavings over the whipped cream. Serve immediately.
