seahawks skittles shots

We had these on Super Bowl Sunday. I think we got 9 or 10 shots using the above recipe. I've seen lots of recipes similarly titled, but I like this one best because it's made from actual Skittles candy (which just seemed appropriate for this recipe). But also, it tasted the best of all the similar shots I've sampled that use other liqueurs for the top green layer. They're fairly strong; if you're like me, you'll want to limit yourself to 2 or 3. Equipment you'll need: a glass jar, about 12- to 16-oz capacity about 9 or 10 shot glasses teaspoon 1/8-cup measuring cup (or similar)

yield 9 -10 shots
prep time 1 Hr
method No-Cook or Other

Ingredients For seahawks skittles shots

  • 1/2 c
green skittles, taken from a 14-oz bag (original flavor) - amount is approximate
  • 1 c
    vodka
  • 9 oz
    blue curacao (approximate amount)

How To Make seahawks skittles shots

TO MAKE GREEN VODKA - Remove all the green Skittles (from a 14-ounce bag) and put them in a glass container, like a Mason jar or something like that. Pour the vodka into the jar over the green Skittles. Let it stand for 45 to 60 minutes. After about 45 minutes, stir the vodka a few times. It should turn a bright green color. If the vodka isn't green enough, let it stand 15-20 minutes more, and stir again.

TO MAKE THE LAYERED SHOTS - Pour 1 ounce of blue curacao into a large (2-ounce) shot glass. Using a large serving spoon or a 1/8-cup measuring cup, remove about 1 ounce of the green vodka from the jar. Slowly pour the green vodka over the back of a teaspoon so it slowly drizzles into the shot glass, immediately layering over the blue curacao. I have found the layering is most successful if I tip the teaspoon so that, when the vodka is poured into the shot glass, it hits the side of the shot glass first and then drizzles on top of the curacao layer.

NOTE - the sugar from the Skittles can surface, creating thin layers of froth on the top of some of the layered shots. It's OK; you can leave them, or if you prefer you can use a spoon to remove them.
