I love red wine sangria, so I have tried making it several different ways. I must say, I think this one is perfect!

Blue Ribbon Recipe

Easy to make, this red sangria is perfect for a fiesta or sitting by the pool. Not too dry and not too sweet, the combination of ingredients is perfect. We used Las Rochas Garnacha for the Spanish red wine and opted for Triple Sec. To suit our taste buds, we used the entire cup of simple syrup. Depending on your wine, you may not need the entire cup. Also, we could not find pomegranate seeds anywhere so we substituted them with raspberries. Make sure to let the fruit soak up the sangria. It's a yummy snack once you finish a glass.

How To Make the perfect red sangria

  • Preparing the simple syrup.
    1
Make the simple syrup by cooking sugar and water on medium heat until dissolved. (I usually make at least a cup in case the sangria needs extra.)
  • Allowing the simple syrup to cool.
    2
    Let cool to room temp.
  • Sangria ingredients added to a pitcher.
    3
Mix all ingredients directly in a serving container.
  • Pouring simple syrup into the sangria.
    4
Add simple syrup last and to taste. The amount will vary depending on the variety of wine and the sweetness of the juice. (The higher quality of juice the better the sangria will taste.)
  • Adding fresh fruit to the sangria.
    5
Add fruit. Letting fruit soak for a couple of hours before serving is delicious!
