Homemade Tia Maria
4 tspinstant coffee (substitute instant espresso)
1/2 cboiling water
2 1/2 cgranulated sugar, or to taste
1 1/2 ccold distilled water
2 tsppure vanilla extract
750 ml(26 oz.) 94% alcohol
How to Make Homemade Tia Maria
- In a measuring cup, add instant coffee and boiling water; stir until granules are dissolved and set aside.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, add sugar and cold water; stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat and let it sit for 15 minutes or until it gets to room temperature.
- Add vanilla, coffee and alcohol to sugar mixture; stir very well and transfer to a liqueur decanter. Let it rest for 3 to 4 weeks before serving. Yields 6 cups
