This recipe was handed down to me from my late grandmother Helen. I've had it for DECADES until I finally made my first batch a couple of years ago. Last November I had a gathering at my place and my aunt and uncle were having some of it in their coffee...it was quite popular that day. Enjoy!

How to Make Eccentric Haus Frau's Helen-On-Wheels Kahlua

Step-by-Step

Stir sugar and water in a medium saucepan on high heat and boil for 5 minutes.
Remove from heat and add 2 ounces instant coffee and stir until blended.
Cool until lukewarm, then add 1 5th Vodka and 2 vanilla beans split lengthwise.
Pour into a 1 gallon container and store for 2 weeks and then either drink and/or pour into smaller bottles for gifts or easier storage.
