cocktail essentials: the sidecar – 4 ways

Recipe by

The sidecar has been around for about a century. It was a time when sour drinks were popular, and produced such favorites as the Brandy Daisy, the Whiskey Sour, and the Margarita. The Victorians sure loved their chocolate, and their sour drinks. It has even been mixed with vodka; however, I rather prefer my vodka in a nice dry martini. Shaken… Not stirred. Here are a few variations on an old classic… Cheers. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

How To Make cocktail essentials: the sidecar – 4 ways

What is Armagnac? Armagnac is a French bourbon distilled once from several select varieties of grapes, it is then aged in oak barrels where it develops complex flavors and a golden-brown color.
  • 3
During the ageing process some of its alcohol and water are lost to evaporation, which the French call: part des anges, or the angels’ share.
  • 4
I varied the amount of lemon or lime juice in the recipes to get that perfect balance of alcohol-to-sour. You might want to start with half of my recommendation, and add a bit more at a time, until you like what you taste.
  • 5
Gather your ingredients (mise en place).
  • 6
Pick a recipe and add all the ingredients to an ice filled cocktail shaker.
  • 7

  • So Yummy
    8
Give it a few shakes and pour into an ice-filled glass, drink and enjoy.
  • Stud Muffin

Keep the faith, and keep drinking… err cooking.
