Sgroppino is a lemon-based Italian cocktail that originated in Sicily. It's pronounced s-gro-PEEN-yoe. It's a simple yet refreshing cocktail consisting of lemon sorbet floating in Prosecco (an Italian sparkling wine) and a splash of lemoncello or lemon-infused vodka and a fresh mint garnish. It's quite refreshing with a sassy, tangy tone. Enjoy!

Ingredients For classic sgroppino

  • 2 scoop
    lemon sorbet, slightly softened
  • 1 cup
prosecco (italian sparkling white wine), chilled
  • 2 oz
lemon-infused vodka or lemoncello (regular vodka works ok, too)
  • 2 sprig
fresh mint leaves, for garnish (optional)

How To Make classic sgroppino

  • 1
Equally divide sorbet among 2 champagne flutes. If sorbet is too solid, stir it a bit with a cocktail muddler to thin it out a bit (so it releases more flavor).
  • 2
Divide vodka (or lemoncello) among the 2 flutes.
  • 3
Top off each flute with Prosecco. Garnish each cocktail with a sprig of fresh mint, and serve immediately.
