This was on a Facebook post, and I had to save it. Robert McCay Green of Philadelphia created the first root beer float in 1874. As the story goes, he was selling cold drinks to patrons at a local community celebration. It was a particularly hot day, and he eventually ran out of ice. He got creative and bought vanilla ice cream from a neighboring vendor, and he started to add a scoop to each soda in place of ice, and voila...the root beer float was officially invented and an immediate hit. Here, that old-fashioned favorite gets an adult make-over with the addition of Kahlua and Bailey's.
