Ingredients For chocolate pudding

  • 1 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 c
    cornstarch
  • 1/8 tsp
    salt
  • 2/3 c
    cocoa
  • 4 c
    milk 2% or whole
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla

How To Make chocolate pudding

  • 1
In large saucepan sift together brown sugar, cornstarch, salt and cocoa.
  • 2
Whisk in the milk until combined. Turn heat to medium/medium low and continue whisking and stirring. Whisking for a nice smooth lump free pudding. Stirring to keep anything from burning or scalding on the inside bottom corners of the saucepan.
  • 3
Bring to a simmer and cook for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes or until thickened. Remove from the heat and stir in the butter and vanilla.
  • 4
Continue stirring every couple of minutes until cooled to prevent a skin from forming. Serve warm or chilled. Before chilling lay a piece of plastic wrap right on the top of the pudding. This helps keep the pudding from forming a skin.
  • 5
Store leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container.
