This is not my recipe...there was a Fifty State Cookoff (recipes from all 50 states). This is a real recipe of AR Persimmon Pudding; one thing our State is supposedly known for. AND NO, I have not made this recipe....you can't find any persimmons around where I live. We also have "Hillary's Chocolate Chip Cookies" "Arkansas Razorbacks" and "Arkansas Sin" YES..these 3 are recipes too. Guess I should post them also. I have already shared them with a group I joined called USA State Recipes. P.S. This is also NOT my photo, it goes with the winning recipe.

Ingredients For arkansas persimmon pudding

  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 3 lg
    eggs
  • 1 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1 1/2 c
    persimmon pulp (be sure they are ripe and not green or you'll be sorry)
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground cloves

How To Make arkansas persimmon pudding

  • 1
    Cream butter until light and fluffy. Gradually beat in brown sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each egg. Sift flour with baking powder. Add flour alternately with milk, beginning ending with flour. Fold in persimmon pulp and the spices. Pour mixture into a greased 1 1/2 quart pudding mold. Steam for 1 1/2 hours.
