Very good old Southern recipe. Got this from my mom. I loved her pies. She didn't make cakes very often. A real easy and delicious pie.

Ingredients For sweet potato pecan pie

  • 2 c
    cooked, mashed sweet potatoes
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/8 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp
    maple flavoring
  • 4
    eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 c
    chopped pecans
  • 1
    unbaked, 9 in. pie shell

How To Make sweet potato pecan pie

  • Mashed sweet potatoes, sugars, salt, spices, and flavorings mixed in a bowl.

    Preheat oven to 350. In a large mixing bowl thoroughly combine mashed potatoes, sugars, salt, spices, and flavorings.
  • Eggs mixed into sweet potatoes.

    Add eggs, beat vigorously until well combined. (You can beat with an electric mixer)
  • Stirring in pecans.

    Stir in pecans.
  • Mixture poured into a pie shell.

    Pour mixture into pie shell.
  • Sweet Potato Pecan Pie baking in the oven.

    Bake for 45 min at 350. Then reduce heat and bake for an additional 10 minutes at 325. You can use Splenda Blends for baking. For the brown & granulated sugars. I have used them.
