Ingredients For strawberry pie 1952

  • TOTAL OF 5 CUPS OF FRESH STRAW BERRIES (ABT. 2 1/2-3 PINTS)
  • FOR PIE
  • 3 c
    fresh strawberries, sliced, halved, or whole (your choice)
  • 1
    prepared pie shell (pastry or graham cracker, oreo cookie, etc. for a no-bake pie)
  • FOR SERVING
  • 1 pt
    whipped cream, sweetened (for serving)
  • 1 c
    fresh strawberry halves to place on whipped cream for serving
  • FOR GLAZE
  • 1 c
    fresh strawberries, crushed
  • 3/4 c
    water
  • 4 Tbsp
    corn starch
  • 4 Tbsp
    cold water
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter

How To Make strawberry pie 1952

    Prepare pie crust: either, bake a pastry shell (traditional and tasty), or prepare a graham cracker, or oreo cookie pie shell -- your choice

    Wash, de-stem, and cut three cups of berries in thick vertical slices (about 3 per berry) can also simply leave whole, or cut in half (vertically) to make them easier to distribute, and place them in the prepared pie shell.

    Make Glaze: Crush 1 cup of fresh strawberries and cook (low boil) with the water for 5 minutes

    Strain to remove the seeds

    Put the cornstarch in 4 Tbsp cold water to blend before adding to hot juice

    Combine the sugar, cornstarch, salt, and butter with the juice and cook for 3-5 minutes to thicken

    Pour the glaze over the berries in the pie shell and set in fridge to cool for at least an hour.

    Serve with whipped cream topped with more berries.
